Rear Window - I just love looking in all those apartment windows!
National Velvet - so lovely. Mickey Rooney can really act and Elizabeth Taylor is so beautiful.
How Green Was My Valley - I loved this book which made me love this movie.

The Scarlet and the Black - Gregory Peck much later in life playing a priest who hid Jews and others from the Nazis. Good movie about Christian forgiveness
Schindler's List - One flawed man did the right thing. Powerful
Sense and Sensibility - Emma Thompson did an excellent adaptation.

Forrest Gump - so thought provoking and poignant and funny.
Catch Me if You Can - Such a compelling story of such a lost but amazing young man.
Cast Away - Hanks is incredible in this. Amazing.
Joe vs. the Volcano - I can't stand the Hanks/Ryan movies, except for this one. Hilarious!
Fantastic Mr. Fox - there is so much to this kids animated movie. I could watch it over and over
The Truman Show - This is such a Christian story and they didn't even know it.
To Kill a Mockingbird - a very great adaptation of a very great novel.
What's Up Doc - hysterically funny. I love it.
The Out of Towners - I laughed til I sobbed the first time I saw this.
The Odd Couple - Walter Matthau is perfect in this movie
Murder by Death - a really clever, campy spoof. Highly enjoyable and silly.
Spinal Tap - classic!
The Princess Bride - wonderful fairy tale where almost the whole script is quotable. Much better than the book!
The Winslow Boy - quirky little story but so well acted and it stays with you for years afterwards
On the Waterfront - so powerful. Marlon Brandon is great and Karl Maldon makes that great speech!
A Streetcar Named Desire - Marlon again. Wow! But depressing as heck.
Airplane - silly comedic genius
Gaslight - so spooky and compelling. Love Joseph Cotton.
The Third Man - Joseph Cotton. Orson Welles is so evil! Perfect movie with zither music!
Good Will Hunting - I thought this movie was really compelling and Minnie Driver didn't bother me that much! Robin Williams was wonderful.
The Bourne Identity - Matt Damon is great. I don't even like action movies but this one is an exception.
Zorba the Greek - You'll find yourself dancing when Zorba dances. Great joy and great horror. More zither music!
La Strada - Anthony Quinn again - so, so sad.
Jerry Maguire - the only movie I've like Tom Cruise in. I love his breakdown and manifesto.
The King's Speech - The scene where the Colin cries, saying "I can't be king." best acting ever!
City Lights - Do you think this will end happily, after all he's done for her?
My Neighbor Totoro - I like this better than Spirited Away, but my kids don't agree.
The Clock - obscure movie where Judy Garland meets a soldier on leave. They fall in love and marry in two days and it makes total sense. No singing but fantastic acting.
The Quiet Man - I really don't like this movie, but John Wayne is so great in this and it has such atmosphere, that I have to include it in this list.
The Railway Children - I loved this adaptation of Elizabeth Nesbitt's tale of children trying to cope with their father's sudden imprisonment. Charming.
On a Clear Day, You Can See Forever - Barbara Striesand again. I found this movie completely engrossing. Loved the music and all the silly history in it.
An Everlasting Piece - sleeper by Barry Levinson which I thought was just terrific. I'm having an epiphany!
PeeWee's Big Adventure - classic!
Wizard of Oz - watched this every year in my childhood. classic!
Winged Migration - Visually gorgeous. Loved the soundtrack.
Up - sobbing right at the beginning of the movie. My son insisted I see this movie with him and we both sobbed together.
Hotel Rwanda - a movie about a strong, good regular human being
High Noon - I love the moral dilemma in this movie. A man's gotta be a man!
Groundhog Day - learning how to love, means not being a selfish bastard
Truly, Madly, Deeply - another movie that had me sobbing. . . for days afterwards.
Life of Brian - hilarious. I think the very humorous teasing about religion gives greater glory to God!
The 400 Blows - so sad. The ending seared into my heart.
Witness - beautiful, moving, gorgeous, poignant, engrossing
Marty - how the rest of us meet and fall in love
Moonstruck - I love the house the familigia lives in! The whole atmosphere is pitch perfect.
My Counsin Vinny - since we're doing Italian Americans here. This movie is a scream!
